Highlights from Keys To Success

Excitement and exhaustion reined for days after BillQuick User Conference 1.0 ended on Friday, June 27. It took over 2,500 hours of preparation but 200+ BillQuick Users left with the Keys To Success.

Starting with first keynote, Dr. Terry Paulson launched attendees - and BillQuick staff, speakers and sponsors - into high excitement. He focused on Change. One quote that Dr. Paulson shared carries meaning at many levels:

The illiterate of the future are not those who cannot read or write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn. -- Alvin Toffler, Futurist

Change is with us. It is accelerating. This one sentence explains a lot to many people. It also carries a prescription.

Greg LaFollette, CPA, CITP, Executive Editor of The CPA Technology Advisor and a national consultant, gave the second keynote. Just as memorable as Dr. Paulson's, Greg focused on The 7 Technological Habits of Highly Effective Firms. His recommendations included:

  1. Training on all types of technology

  2. Multiple Monitors (dual or tri-monitor environments)

  3. Outlook Integration with at least core systems

  4. Outsourcing of Specialized Technologies like fax services, hosted VOIP, spam filtering, etc

  5. Remote Access using smart phones and tools like LogMeIn and to access "workflow vendors" like BQE Software's BillQuick

  6. Workflow - define processes in your firm and optimize them to save time, effort and others (the conference included a Document and Process Flow session)

  7. Portals for sharing information with clients and others.

In addition, Keys To Success included 17 training, insight and management sessions. BillQuick training and insight sessions focused on success with BillQuick and getting the most from it for your firm. These sessions included:

  • Tracking Time and Expenses

  • Billing with BillQuick - The Right Way

  • BillQuick-QuickBooks Integration (basics and in-depth)

  • BillQuick Workflow

  • Optimizing BillQuick For Your Firm

  • BillQuick Tips and Tricks

  • Report Customization

Management sessions focused on ways to improve firm operations. One session, Thrive or Just Survive, provided insights and best practices (including 10 key performance indicators and metrics). Felecia Dixson, EA, Larry Gray, CPA, Kevin Harris, AIA, Gordon Galloway and Doug Sleeter joined panel discussions to discuss best practices, document and process flow using BillQuick, empowerment for faster and higher billing, and accounting tips. A well-attended and lively Feedback session received honest and insightful suggestions for BillQuick and for BQE Software.

The last keynote was delivered by Shafat Qazi, founder and CEO of BQE Software. From his birth place Kashmir to the harsh winters in Buffalo to the founding of BQE Software in California, Shafat shared his personal and business journey. He let everyone know that it was his mentors, partners, employees and the customers who have truly created BillQuick. And from the heart he let the attendees know that everything about BillQuick is about them. That BillQuick's capabilities came from them. That they are true partners in its success.

Then Shafat announced for the first time . . . BillQuickOnline.com! The future is very bright. See the announcement from the conference.

At the end of the conference two items stood out. First, many attendees asked:

You're doing this next year, right?

The second item was spoken a few times but most silently shouted it:

BillQuick Community

The BillQuick User Conference produced the foundation for an enthusiastic, evangelical community of users. Management and staff will make sure that the BillQuick Community grows and expands.

Stay tuned. As CEO Shafat Qazi said:

And The Journey Continues

BQE Software thanks its sponsors and partners for helping make its first BillQuick User Conference a success.
