Recently one of our ArchiOffice users was honored with an award from the American Institute of Architects.
Not that we’re ones to brag…much. But, we’re always happy to give a shout-out and bring some attention to members of our ArchiOffice community when we hear about their success.
his past May, Dirk Denison Architects, an ArchiOffice user for three years, won the American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Housing award.
Dirk Denison, FAIA established his Chicago based practice, Dirk Denison Architects, in 1990. His firm has built a wide range of residential, institutional, and commercial projects in Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Phoenix, San Francisco and New York. Their work has been recognized both nationally and internationally through awards and publications for outstanding residential and commercial design.
In addition to being an architect, Dirk is also an educator. He has held multiple positions at his alma mater, the Illinois Institute of Technology, holding positions there as a full-time faculty member over the last two decades.
DDA was one of 10 recipients selected by the AIA for the 2012 Housing Awards. The Housing Awards Program recognizes the best in housing design and promotes the importance of good housing as a necessity of life, a sanctuary for the human spirit and a valuable national resource.
The AIA jury recognized projects in four award categories: One/Two Family Custom Housing, One/Two Family Production Housing, Multifamily Housing and Special Housing. DDA received the award for the One/Two Family Custom Housing category for their residence project in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California which is simultaneously simplistic and elegant in its peaceful zenesque design.
Again, congratulations to Dirk and the entire staff at DDA on their well-deserved award from the AIA.
